Blog Tour: Three Broken Promises by Monica Murphy. Guest Post, Review, and Giveaway.

ABOUT THREE BROKEN PROMISES:

Breakout New Adult sensation Monica Murphy returns with a hot new contemporary romance—a heartfelt story of second chances, forgiveness, and redemption.

Commitment. That’s what I really want from Colin. Ever since my brother, Danny, died in Iraq, Colin’s done so much to help me, including giving me a job at his popular restaurant so I can leave my crappy waitressing job at the strip joint. But lying in bed with him every night to comfort him from his horrible nightmares isn’t enough anymore. I know he feels guilty about Danny’s death, about not going to Iraq, but I can’t keep living this double life.

I love him desperately, but he’s got so many demons, and if he can’t open up to me now, then he’ll never be the real partner I need him to be. I gave him a month, and now I’m out of here. If he truly loves me like he says, he knows where to find me.

Guest Post from author Monica Murphy:

Ten Things Jen thinks you should know about Colin

*Author’s note: I’m just going to go ahead and let Jen take over because she likes to do that sort of thing. It’s easier this way. Trust me.

Colin is a mystery to me still. I’ve known him for a long time. I can’t imagine not knowing him. But do I understand why he does certain things? Acts a certain way? Not really. I feel silly confessing that because hello, he’s my man. I like a certain element of mystery when it comes to Colin, but sometimes it’s very frustrating.

But enough about my frustration with Colin. Let me tell you a few things about him you might not know. Things I think you should know because it’ll give you some better insight into why he acts the way he does. Not that I know all about the infamous Colin but hey. I’m going to try.

1.      Colin Wilder—his last name completely fits him. He definitely has a wild side, especially in bed. Yes, I just went there. You know you wanted me to.

2.      I hated him when he first started hanging around my brother. I thought he was trying to steal Danny away from me, which he sort of was.

3.      When I graduated high school, he gave me a beautiful necklace. It was the most expensive piece of jewelry I’d ever been given. I think I fell a little in love with him that night.

4.      He’s a protector. He will do whatever it takes to make sure the ones he cares about are safe.

5.      Colin is a fair boss. He may be kind of hard on his employees sometimes but usually that’s because they need it.

6.      He doesn't like to be alone. I think a lot of that stems from when he was a kid and his parents neglected him somewhat. Plus, he was an only child. He likes being surrounded by people.

7.      He’s a very private person. Too private. It’s hard to get inside his head.

8.      I love it when he smiles at me. He has the most beautiful smile ever. It would dazzle the crankiest old lady on the planet I just know it.

9.      He thinks I’m afraid of commitment but I know he’s the one who’s scared of it. Even though he loves me, he’s nervous about taking that next step. So I wait patiently because I know he’s worth it.

10.  Colin better hurry up though and make a move eventually. I’m not getting any younger and I want to have a big family. He doesn’t know it yet, but he wants to have a big family too. *winks*

My Thoughts:

Three Broken Promises (Drew + Fable, #3)Three Broken Promises by Monica Murphy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When I started Three Broken Promises I was a little worried about liking it as much as the previous books in the series. I really loved Drew and Fable...especially Fable, I adored her, and I was worried that I wouldn't like Jenn quite as much, or that I would constantly be comparing them. But you can't do that. It's a different couple, with a totally different dynamic!

Right off I will say that as much as I love Colin...love his take charge, manhandling ways in the bedroom, and by the pool, and in the office...for about 80% of the book I wanted to smack him upside his head!! Dear Lord!! It should be illegal for him to be in his head so much, but I totally get it. He feels like he let Jenn's brother down in more ways than one, and he has to deal with that guilt. It actually made me love him all the more.

Jenn really wants to be self-sufficient, independent, and strong, but life seems determined to disrupt those plans. After she runs away from home, she makes some bad decisions, but seriously, can you blame her? After Colin rescues her, takes her home, and gives her a job, her past comes back to haunt her. She doesn't know what to think about her relationship with Colin, she's feeling trapped, so she decides to leave and strike it own on her own.

Through all their ups and downs, and through me going through the tissues, it takes a while, but they finally hear what they need to from each other. It took going through some scary moments for them to FINALLY say the words they both needed to say, but it totally works. Although, I was saying over and over while reading, the same five words.

Just. Ask. Her. To. Stay
